The Bishop Robert
R. Roberts Memorial is shown at the left and is located
on land adjacent to what the Lawrenceport Methodist Church.
The Methodist Conference *closed* the church in the fall of 2003
and it became available for purchase.
On July 28, 2004 it became the property of the
Bishop Robert R. Roberts Memorial Assn., Inc. !!
The church building will be used for scheduled events (e.g. 5th
Sunday services in the spirit of the era of the Circuit Riders;
weddings, funerals, community gatherings, etc.)
The first such event, a 5th Sunday
service, will be at 2pm Sunday August 29, 2004
Future plans for the building include a
Circuit Rider museum and research room
which will be open to the public by appointment.
This is a large undertaking and we need YOUR
support !
Originally formed by and for the descendents of the Bishop's
siblings,
membership in the Bishop Robert R.
Roberts Memorial Assn, Inc.
is now open to anyone with an interest in the history of the
Lawrenceport
community, the Methodist Church and the Circuit Riders of all
denominations
There is no set membership fee - however any monetary
contributions,
large or small will help maintain this as a tribute to those
Circuit Riders who played a very important role in the growth of
*one nation, under God*
You may have an ancestor who was ordained by Bishop Roberts
or perhaps you just have an avid interest in the Circuit Riders !
Sharing of information (family history, etc) is VERY
important
in order to establish a useful research center
