The Roberts Trail Award was once given by the Boy Scouts of America

First Day

Mitchell, Indiana to Lawrenceport - 5 miles. At Lawrenceport visit the church, the spring and the scene of the river port and shipyard below the town, followed by lunch on a lawn. After lunch travel on to the cemetery, the Roberts' home and its stepping stone then hike to Roberts Park Assembly- 1 mile. Rest and play on the grounds until dinner, followed by campfire and sleep.

Second Day

Hike to the Bishop Roberts Farm - 3 miles south; lunch on the site of the Roberts big log house; listen to a presentation of his arrival there in 1819 followed by comment by the owner of the farm, who helped tear down the building; then visit the spring and the site of the first cabin. Hike the back way to Spring Mill Park - 4 miles. Have dinner, campfire and spend the night at the Inn or on the grounds.

Third Day

Hike to the valley of Spring Mill - 1 mile. Visit the sites of the park, its restored buildings, the old mill, the primitive saw mill, the stream flowing out of a cave over a high via-duct to the big water wheel. Lunch on the grounds while listening to descriptions of the history of the park and the restorations. Swim in the lake. Travel by bus or cars to point of departure.

After completion of the above hike the scouts received the Roberts Trail Award
